Every Executive's Development Path

Every successful Executive is able to accomplish the following:

  1. Design and Implement Strategy

  2. Define Leadership Style

  3. Make Data-Driven Decisions

  4. Create Culture

  5. Understand People

  6. Design Organizational Structure

  7. Understand Financial and KPI measurement

  8. Communicate the Path: the X-Factor

Dr. Schell teaches Executives how to be successful.

  1. Designing and Implementing Strategy includes crafting Vision, Mission, Values, SWOT, and Objectives as part of a Strategic Plan. All elements of strategy should be known to a CEO who uses these tools to define the future state of the business.

  2. Defining Leadership is the process of creating the CEO's behavior to meet the strategic objectives of the form and possessing the ability to motivate and inspire staff.

  3. Making Data-Driven Decisions is the ability to apply inductive and deductive reasoning to validate decisions.

  4. Creating Culture results from the alignment of the CEO's behavior, the firm's strategy, and how the staff interaction is structured.

  5. Understanding People means being able to identify the 5 Big Personality types and apply the types to place staff in the positions best suited to their personality, which also impacts leadership style.

  6. Designing Organizational Structure is the process of identifying the best structure to accommodate the workflow design required to achieve the strategic objectives. Mortgage lending is uniquely complex in its reliance on two distinct organizational designs within one organization.

  7. Understanding Financial and KPI measurement includes the ability to interpret financial statements, hedging reports, and KPI metrics to confirm performance targets and drive change within an organization. Unless a branch manager has an accounting degree, they may struggle to extract all the content from rows and columns of numbers, which might be better presented as charts and graphs.

  8. Communicating the Path or what I call the "X-Factor" requires the ability to explain the path to gain alignment from a wide range of employee personality styles. As an example, inspiring a sales team is not the same as encouraging an operations group.

Dr. Schell helps Executives understand all of these topics and implement all of these topics within a firm.
